A Hoopee in the garden.
Hoopoes are colourful birds found across Africa, Asia, and Europe, notable for their distinctive "crown" of feathers. Three living and one extinct species are recognized, though for many years all of the extant species were lumped as a single species—Upupa epops. In fact, some taxonomists still consider all three species conspecific. Some authorities also keep the African and Eurasian hoopoe together but split the Madagascar hoopoe.

Cathedral Rock, Sedona - Northwest View
We were attempting to park and hike the Cathedral Rock Trail for the second time, but there was no parking available. So we stopped the vehicle along the private residence road and I took this photograph from the northwest side.

Red-winged blackbirds are one of the first migrating birds to return in the spring. The males are mainly black with a red and pale yellow patch on their wings and a pointed bill. This male red-winged blackbird was photographed in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in the spring.

"Great White Egret Feathers III" by Patti Deters. In the spring, Great White Egrets (Ardea alba egretta) grow fantastic plumage and display bright neon green eye color during courtship, mating, and nesting season. The long, thin, and feathery breeding plumage are called aigrettes which grows from the back, and part of the skin on its face turns bright green which give these birds a beautiful fairy tale look. It’s the aigrettes that almost caused these water birds to become extinct in the late nineteenth century because they were hunted for fashion hat decorations - which in turn sparked conservation efforts and some early laws to protect these wild avian waterfowl, also known as white herons or American herons. This beautiful white bird was photographed in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. A possible submission for Abbie Shores' Edit This Challenge # 47 f. In this version, I added a herd of buffalo and in the distance some drovers. In the foreground a humorous addition of a gal trying to roller skate per the old Roger Miller song, "You Can't Roller Skate In A Buffalo Herd". I extended the bottom of the canvas and added text of the lyric in yellow and in quotes.
The Return of Roger Miller is the second studio album of country music singer-songwriter Roger Miller. It was released under the Smash Records label in 1965. It reached No. 2 on the country album charts and No. 4 on the Billboard 200, and was ultimately certified as Gold by the RIAA. The track "You Can't Roller Skate in a Buffalo Herd" was later released as a single in 1966.
