Changing An Image

This does not work, The same image appears everywhere over and over, even days after. So what's the point of changing anything? Please correct this. Thank you.

The same has been happening to me for years on FAA! I was just about to write a question now about this problem and saw that you were having the same issues. I changed an image last night and the old one is still appearing. I have cleared cache, which does not help. I would appreciate this being fixed as it doesn't happen on other sites.
Thank you

Do you mean when you replace an image? Its usually takes about 24 hours to change. Sometimes the thumbnail image takes longer.

Jan, if changed last night it may take a few hours longer.

Yes, when I replace the image. Thanks Jessica, I'll keep an eye on it.

I still think it should changed instantly as it does on all the other sites I upload images to.

I am talking about changing an image by replacing it with an new version of the same image. Also, it does not seem to be fixed even after days. In reality, it should be viewable as a changed image immediately and you should not have to wait for it. What's the difference in uploading a new image which appears immediately?

This drives me nuts. Just happened again today. I wanted to upload a better image, and while it looks like it's there, after I hit "submit", later if I go back the OLD image is still showing. ARRRGGHHH.
Husband said changes don't occur in "real time" and to wait. So I'll check tomorrow.

It is the system here. If you haven't shared links any where to the image try changing the title of said new image so it is different than the one still stored on the FAA servers.

If an image has been on FAA for a long time, then the replaced image will show up immediately.

It doesn't seem to matter whether it's a slightly changed version of the same image or a completely new image. It should still appear immediately as it does on several other sites.

it sticks in your cache. try closing the tab, erasing the cache then going back to that page again. or force a refresh. sometimes it sticks on the page itself. also demanding things to be fixed especially when vague like this, the people that fixes the occasional bug probably won't see it. you are best to ask tech support.

also if you have anything with the same title, it will really mess things up.

Meanwhile, the image I changed yesterday is still the old one. And the title should NOT have to be changed ! Looks like many folks are having this issue. THIS NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED ASAP FAA !

Stephen this is nothing new! I just replaced 2 of my images and will check back later to say when they are updated.

Have you tried clearing your cookies and cache? I do this a lot as I've been re-editing updating a lot of my older images and haven't had any issues.

Jessica Jenney

Jennifer it has nothing to do with OUR cache, It's FAA cache. Older images update faster, I've noticed

Thanks for everyone's comments, I have sent a message to Tech Support to correct this.

Jessica, it can be either

Sometimes we have updated but the person's browser hasn't. It's a mix

It's now 2 days since I replaced the image. The old image is still showing! As I said earlier, this problem has been occurring for me for many years!!

are you sure you hit submit?

try another browser just for kicks, see if it really is your browser or the site. but many do forget to hit submit.

Yes, Mike, I did. I tested it a couple of times by clicking on 'Edit Image' - the new image shows on the edit page, but as soon as I click Submit, the old image appears.

So my 2 images updated from earlier today That took 7 hours! Try typing F5 on keyboard

Jan Matson

Thanks Jessica. I think that just lights up the keyboard on a Mac.

Thx. Jessica, I see mine updated as well from yesterday. Not sure why it cannot happen immediately though, I'll see what support says.

In total agreement with the author. The lack of timely updating instances ranges from replacement images taking days if not weeks, 48 hours on mobile, to where long-deleted images live on as thumbnails on various gallery views. What happens when a customer purchases art that is not in fact the item represented on the site? Claiming that's just "the way it is" is not acceptable. These lags prevent us email marketers from sending new product announcements to customers until the site catches up. Nutz. FAA is supposedly the market leader and its technology should correspond. Clearly, the FAA technology backbone is dated and has become bloated with numerous updates, patches and workarounds. Time for a fresh new code base, Admin and UI comparable to the competition.

Stephen, have all of your product images updated to the new one?

Olli Ogneva

I also had this problem, but I changed the original name and the problem was solved

Stephen Vecchiotti

Yes all images have updated Jessica.

I just checked mine and while the main picture is the newly uploaded image, when I click Canvas Print it shows the old image.
I didn't notice the painting had a smudge mark, above and to the left slightly of the small alien's head. I painting over the smudge mark and uploaded the new image. I'm baffled why the Canvas Print view still shows the old image with the smudge mark.

It is now 3 days and only the main image has updated to the new one. All of the product images are still showing the old image. It is very frustrating as I can't advertise this painting until all the images have updated.

Jan Matson

Unfortunately, still no change 4 days later. Until the product images update I can't promote the painting!

Donna Mibus

It appears all my products now have the correct, updated picture. Woohoo! I'm relieved.

Jan Matson

That's good news Donna, how many days did it take for all product images to update?

Donna Mibus

Jan, it took 2 days.
Edit, this is odd. On my cellphone the OLD image still shows on items, like various prints, pillows, etc. So we looked using my husband's cellphone and the NEW image shows on all items. Must be a cache thing, and not FAA. When I posted my earlier post I had checked using my desktop, and all appeared ok.

Jan Matson

Donna, I asked someone to check the products for me on their computer and iphone and they are still showing the OLD product images - 4 Days later!

Jan Matson

Finally, all the thumbnails are showing the new updated images!! It's made me realise that if I need to change the image I will have to give it a new title - can't wait 8 days for the changes to happen!!!
