A Thread To Sell Art

I just want to mention one other thing.

I know there are people here that are dead against any kind of promoting of other peoples artwork.

We know that. If you don't want to play please just don't play.

I am going to start this off by with a tribute to Harold Shull who recently passed.

I am assuming that the proceeds of his FAA gallery are going to his family and I think we can all agree that he was one of the great all-time members of FAA with an incredible body of work.

This sort of chain is interesting to me.It is an extra and more productive way of using the forum.

Everyone naturally wants to put their best foot forward. It is easy to share these works.

I have so many SM outlets now that the ones I want to keep to myself I can. While I have 17k or more followers where I can share other folks things and not have any worries. Then there are FB groups where I can further share things for people.

Located in Paso Robles, California, Estrella Warbirds Museum has long been one of the fastest growing non-profit museums in Central California. It is home to a vast collection of military aviation artifacts, aircraft and memorabilia. We are home to the incredible Woodland Auto Display.

In 1935 an aviation icon was born.
Considered by General Dwight D. Eisenhower as one of the most vital tools to success, the Douglas C-47 Skytrain operated from every continent and participated in every major battle during the Second World War.

While the legendary Douglas DC-3’s first significant achievement was bringing profitability to the burgeoning airline industry, its ruggedized version, the C-47, cemented that legacy above the battlefields of World War II. Throughout its long and distinguished military career, the C-47 Skytrain, also known as Dak or Dakota to the Royal Air Force, was utilized in numerous roles, including hauling cargo, transporting troops, dropping paratroops, towing gliders and more.

I headed out to the River Trail Nature Center in Illinois to get some photos of wildlife. I was hoping to stay long enough to get some nice photos in golden sunset light. I found out that the place closes early at 4:00pm, so I was a bit worried. But thanks to the early setting sun in winter, there was already beautifully warm golden light by 3:00pm. Here's a shot of one small mourning dove on a cold day basking in the warm evening sun.

Evel Knievel Tribute Motorcycle by Floyd Snyder

This motorcycle is part of Don Laughlin's Riverside Resort Hotel & Casino Classic Car Museum & Sales. It was built by California Motorcycle as a tribute to Evel Knievel.

Robert Craig "Evel" Knievel was an American stunt performer and entertainer. Over his career, he attempted more than 75 ramp-to-ramp motorcycle jumps, and, in 1974, a canyon jump across Snake River Canyon in the Skycycle X-2, a steam-powered rocket.

Cinderella's Pumpkin Carriage by Barbara Snyder

Hey! Look what I found! Cinderella's coach! No sign of the mice that pulled it or Bruno the dog turned footman that drove it.

If you drive around the back roads of rural America you are likely to find some of the coolest examples of lawn art in the country.

I found this really cool replica (sort of) of Cinderella's Carriage. I am thinking it was originally built as a float for local parade maybe but I really do not know.

Bells at Bridlewood Estate Winery by Floyd Snyder

The bells tower here closely resembles the bell towers that are found at a number of California Missions. These particular bells and its tower are found at Bridlewood Estate Winery in Santa Ynez California.

There is a Santa Ynez mission located in Solvang California, but in my opinion, this tower more closely resembles the bells of the La Prisma mission found in Lompoc California.

Lone Cypress is located on the world-famous 17 Mile drive that runs along what many think is the most beautiful and picturesque coastline in the world. The two-lane road runs between Monterey California to the famous art town of Carmel By The Sea. Carmel was also made even more famous when Clint Eastwood served as it mayor.

The Lone Cypress is located about halfway between the two tourist sites and is not all that far from one of the most famous golf course in the world, Pebble Beach. This spot is considered one of the most photographed sites in the world drawing but armatures and professionals from around the world.

Mission Bells at Bridlewood Winery Santa Ynez by Floyd Snyder

Cayucos is located on the coast in San Luis Obispo County, California along California State Route 1 between Cambria to the north and Morro Bay to the south. The population was 2,592 at the 2010 census, down from 2,943 at the 2000 census.

Prehistorically the local area was inhabited by the Chumash people, who settled the coastal San Luis Obispo area approximately 11,000 to 10,000 BC, including a large village to the south of Cayucos at Morro Creek.

The first European land exploration of Alta California, the Spanish Portal' expedition, camped in the vicinity of today's Cayucos on September 9, 1769. Coming from the previous campsite near Morro Bay, Franciscan missionary and expedition member Juan Crespi noted in his diary that "In the four hours that we traveled, making at the most three leagues, we encountered eight arroyos by which the water from the mountains runs to the sea, along whose edge we traveled. We halted at the eighth watering-place in a moderately broad valley, into which enters an estuary fed by an arroyo of good water coming from the mountains." Crespi translator Herbert Bolton noted the camp location as Ellysley Creek (further along the coast to the northwest), but the description sounds more like Cayucos.

Cayucos is the hispanicization of a Chumash word for "kayak," or "canoe," used by the Chumash people to fish in the bay, particularly in the rich kelp beds just north of the current Cayucos pier. The town took its name from the old Rancho Moro y Cayucos, a Mexican land grant awarded in 1842 that includes the present area of the town.

In 1867, Captain James Cass settled on 320 acres (1.29 km2) of this land and founded the town of Cayucos. Cass began developing the area with his business partner, Captain Ingals. Cass built a 900-foot pier and a warehouse to house cargo bound for San Francisco or Los Angeles. Eventually, Cass returned to life on the sea and in 1875 real estate developer C.H. Phillips subdivided and sold the remaining portions of Rancho Moro y Cayucos. The original pier was swept away by a storm but has since been rebuilt.

In October 2009, Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel Magazine listed Cayucos as one of the "Coolest Small Towns in America".

Standing in War Eagle Creek looking over at War Eagle Mill along the waterfall near Rogers, Arkansas, United States. The gristmill is an active working mill in the Ozarks. They have a store inside the mill were you can buy yummy goodies, or you can order online. The current mill was built in 1973, however there were 2 mills before it that were destroyed by fire. The first mill was built in 1832.

Animals that stay alive longest are those that remain alert to their surroundings, no matter how peaceful their surroundings may seem. High in the Salmon River Mountains of Idaho, a herd of deer grazes in the lush grass, with one of them looking up and about, allowing the others to graze. Humans can learn much from wildlife, if no more than to not trust so unquestioningly in our situation and surroundings, no matter that we're told to do so. The working doc at Morro Bay is where the fishing fleet loads supplies and unloads the catch of the day. The Morro Bay fishing fleet is not near as large as it once was but is still alive and doing business. On certain days you can actually buy fresh fish as it is being unloaded from the boats. It doesn't get any fresher than that!

This old truck sits at the entrance to one of San Luis Obispo's many working ranches. This one had a little of everything in the say of live stock. It was mostly a horse ranch but it also had sheep and goats, a donkey and even several buffalo in a pen.

One thing I didn't see was cattle or cows. Somewhat surprising because of the high number of working cattle ranches in the county.
