Born and raised in Peterborough, Ontario, Dan graduated from the Fine Art Administration Program at Sir Sandford Fleming College, Peterborough. While completing the program, he worked at Artspace, an artist-run, co-operative gallery in Peterborough. During that time, he was studio assistant to artist David Bierk.
