Description
Vancouver sparkles just after sunset in this panoramic photo taken from Dog Mountain in Mount Seymour Provincial Park.
The view from Dog Mountain is really quite breathtaking, as you see the whole city spread out below you, with views to Vancouver Island and Washington. I was fortunate to get some excellent conditions on this trip -- the views across to the city were very clear, but above me was some haze that lit up with the light from the sunset.
I particularly like how the currents and disturbances in the Vancouver harbour can be seen in this shot. I took a three row by eight column panorama to capture as much detail as possible from this breathtaking location!
Centrally located in the photo is the downtown core of Vancouver, with BC Place, Canada Place, the Convention Centre, the Harbour Centre, and the Shangri-La all visible. Cargo ships can be seen moored in Vancouver harbour, with the North Vancouver shoreline at the bottom of the photo. In the far distance can be seen the jetty at Iona Beach, and beyond that, the Gulf Islands and the pass leading to Vancouver Island.
This photo is also available in a wide panoramic format that shows more of the city buildings and fog, but this version is made available for customers who want a print with a more traditional aspect ratio, focused on the downtown core of Vancouver.
