I returned this particular cover, as I found a Saul Steinberg cover that better served the purpose of creating a Christmas, New Year, and birthday gift for a friend who lived in NY and relocated to San Francisco. The New Yorker has provided a wonderful array of covers over the 60+ years the magazine has been in my home. Edna Eicke's cover was produced prior to my birth in 1947, and it is part of The New Yorkers' great cover legacy.

Absolutely love the print. It is one of my favorite locations. In fact I have a photo I took 7 years ago in that very spot. I received my order quick and in great condition.

Really disappointed in how the artwork arrived. It was rolled too loosely and placed in a flimsy triangular carton that was too large. The artwork was wrinkled and cracked. This was meant as a housewarming gift for a friend. I did what I could to straighten out the paper. My suggestion is to use more expensive and sturdier tubes that UPS and FedEx can't crush as easily.
Artist's Description
This is the flower and the painting that got me hooked on painting flowers up close and personal. I love the Bird of Paradise bloom with its flaring configuration, electrifying colors and similarity to a wild tropical bird dressed up to attract a mate. Closing in, we can see and appreciate the unusual splay of its petals as they burst from the stem with color and excitement.
For the past few years I've been painting flowers up so close that they envelope the viewer in their sensuality and rich color. Enlarged, they become almost abstractions from nature without seeing the outer shape or the environment around them.
This original watercolor is painted on 140# Arches Cold Press paper. It is the original art, not a print. Framed with a Florentine gold, brushed metal 1" frame and a 3.5" white mat, it is ready to hang for your pleasure. A Certificate of Authenticity comes with the watercolor signed by Sandy Haight.

About Sandy Haight
Watercolor is my medium. I zoom in and compose from my photos to fill a picture plane with a compelling design that takes the viewer into an abstract and sensual world. I look for beautiful transitions of color or textures that could be expressed luminously with my many glazes of watercolor, or that might provide an opportunity for me to try new painting techniques. I paint the inner landscape of flowers calling these works Floralscapes. The shapes, designs and patterns inside flowers and plants are the subject that awakened my love of painting, giving me a chance to create images of stunning beauty while merging realism with an abstract sense of design. As my paintings get larger, and I face new technical challenges with watercolor,...
