A rivulet of water wends its way gently through the sand, creating a path through the grass. The breeze blows softly on a warm, peaceful, coastal day.

Such is the allure and call of the ocean and its coast: it’s a big, grand place, and when there are beaches of sand through which to stroll and daydream, it is a place of thought, quiet, tranquility, and wonder.

Low Tide, the artwork, invites the viewer to enter into just such a place of wonder and quiet. This particular stretch of beach is located in the Central Oregon Coast, on the Pacific Ocean side of the United States. While the weather here is not known for being balmy (even in the summer, serious surfers wear wet suits to keep hypothermia at bay), there are days in which the sun shines warmly and the breeze blows barely with a whisper. It is on these days that finds a hillock of sand, often within a cluster of sea grass, and settles in for an afternoon of watching the ocean surf and hearing its rhythmic, hypn...

I am a fine art painter who creates representational images celebrating light, life, and color. A commercial illustrator for more than 20 years, I have been painting for most of my life, and in the last 18 years have focused exclusively on fine art. I celebrate images that invite the viewer to step into the artwork and experience a sense of joy, peace, freedom, encouragement, meditation, and thought. There's a lot of angry art out there, as well as a lot of shallow pop. I choose to use the abilities and experience I have to promote beauty and goodness.
