Description
Santa Clara, Northern California, USA - Seen in our neighborhood. Red-flowering gums (Corymbia ficifolia) , also known as eucalypts, are long-lived evergreens with fibrous bark and plentiful red (or pink or orange) flower clusters in the winter. They are native to the southwest of Western Australia, but are adaptable to many temperate locations where they may become larger and more vigorous in cultivation than in the wild. The fruit is contained in a woody, urn-shaped capsule.
