Art provides an opportunity for kaleidoscopic thinking. Each time we shift the lens of our perceptions, we gain new perspectives β€” and new opportunities for innovation.πŸ’–β£οΈπŸ’– CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR RECENT SALE OF A WONDERFUL WORK!

This was the church I was baptized in, years ago, when it was designated a mission, and Seward was just a scruffy kind of rough and tumble little town, long before it had been "discovered" by cruise ships and private vessels. I have remained a traditional Anglican and hear the same words of prayer and Scripture that were once spoken here, long before I reached the age of reason, as I worship online with St Andrews in Jacksonville Oregon. This church is owned by the Episcopal Church which went off the rails in the late seventies, so no longer worships or believes in the 'faith once delivered to the saints', so while this building no longer represents the orthodox faith of the English church, it is dear to me as the place where my tiny footsteps first began the pilgrim journey. Thank you for your beautiful photograph. I keep this on my desk and have it before my eyes when I say Morning and Evening Prayer.

About Scott Listfield

Scott Listfield

I paint astronauts and, sometimes, dinosaurs. Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey was released in 1968, which was about 8 years before I was born, so I have no firsthand knowledge of how it was received. I do not know if people genuinely believed we'd be living in space in 2001. If we'd have robot butlers and flying cars, geodesic lunar homes with sustainable gardens, and genetically reconstituted dinosaurs helping or eating the human population. But from Lost in Space to the Jetsons to Jurassic Park, it seems that popular culture craved and fomented this space-age perception of the future. Generations raised on these programs, movies, comic books, and novels are now grown and living in a future filled with mini vans, Starbucks,...
