WHAT’s “a happening” this week?....LINE...

Previously, we discussed our surface, textural choices, colours, light-darkness, form-formlessness, movement, and perspective. This week, the focus is on LINE!
“Why Line?”, you ask. LINE as theory, not only is an elemental basic with five general features (vertical, horizontal, curved, diagonal and zigzag) but is it also THE conceptual foundation for Masters like Michaelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Albrecht Durer, Picasso, etc., who ALL understood its POWER to elicit, portray, even manipulate... basic feeling and mood. Where does one SEE “implied” line?...say, in a mountain range or in the abstracted foggy horizon space between sky and sea...the list goes on. Do you have to work with pencil to address line? ...painters paint it...photographers “capture” it..digital fractal artists...enlighten it!!! Well, they apply the eternal mathematical sequences of Pierre Fatou’s brainchild which could not see the light of day until Benoit could feed it to a computer of sufficient size to arrive at the now Household-known equation that bears his surname, “Mandelbrot”.
