Inauguration Art

This inauguration was challenging in so many ways. It was deeply emtional for me and thus I found myself painting. I expect many artists in all genres create when their emotions flow..whether to sing, write, dance, draw or paint. It is emotions that drive my work and I expect that is the same for most of us.

Yesterday the United States changed presidents. It was a challenging and emotional for many. I found I had to create something to express myself. When I saw Katy Perry singing, 'Firework' in front ot the Washington Monument, and then the fireworks began, I felt this was the image I wanted to capture. I felt it said everything about how I feel.

I don't know what moved you in this inauguration, but if you have found yourself painting, this contest is for you. If you have a painting or even a photograph from a past inauguration, please join in.
